My Mission: Where science meets society
Why Solving Big Problems Needs a Mix of Experts
Big problems—like poverty, climate change, and healthcare—are too complicated to fix with just one way of thinking. That’s why a mix of experts from different areas—like science, politics, economics, and psychology—is the best way to come up with real solutions.
Take poverty, for example. It’s not just about getting people jobs. It’s also about low wages, expensive childcare, unfair hiring practices, and a system that makes it harder for some people to get ahead.
Or climate change—it’s not just about telling people to recycle more. It’s about how businesses and governments encourage overconsumption (which also makes social inequality worse).
When experts from different backgrounds work together, they can see the bigger picture and come up with smarter, fairer, and longer-lasting solutions. After all, no one solves a puzzle by looking at just one piece!
That’s why my science communication is about how science meets the issues in society. On my podcast and articles I discuss these issues with both experts and people in society, in my quest to reach under represented people in our community
